After my previous blogposts on Against All Odds and Caring Malaysians, it certainly was good to read of how Priya’s life has changed for the better since her plight was highlighted in the Star in late November. Priya rides pillon on her mother’s motorcycle to school, has a new well-lit room to study in and [...]

Following up to my blogpost yesterday about succeeding against all odds, it was very heartening to read in today’s Star of the prompt response from caring Malaysians. Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim promised to pay for her education up to Varsity level. Hon said he has also instructed his personal assistant to monitor [...]

I came across a very inspiring story in the Star today about 12-year old Priya who scored 7As in the recent UPSR exams. What makes it extra special is the fact that she comes from a poor family background and has to walk 15Km to school from her squatter house everyday, sometimes without having any [...]

Following up to my previous blogpost on the MPPJ Odd Balls, the Star reported that they were a “mistake”. The balls were an idea that was based on MK Land’s Damansara Perdana landscaping and were supposed to sport the council’s colours and be an artistic representation of Petaling Jaya Municipal Council’s progressiveness – rolling forward [...]

Spotted in the Star:
It must have been an awful 30 minutes for a 17-year-old girl when her forefinger got stuck in an auto-teller machine yesterday.
Six firemen spent half-an-hour to help the teenager dislodge her finger from the ATM at Taman Larkin Jaya.
The girl, who was withdrawing her money, was astounded when her finger got stuck [...]

Spotted in the Star. These strange structures were put up at at an SS3 junction recently by the MPPJ. Needless to say they have baffled passersby and even embarassed the residents. My reaction? What on earth were they thinking?

Yup it’s final. After all the confusion over the NegaraKu tempo, our National Anthem will revert to its original beat first introduced in 1956, according to Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Rais Yatim. The Negaraku will be gazetted under the National Anthem Act which would go into force at the end of this [...]

Read on Bernama News today that a study is being carried out to determine the rhythm and tempo of the national anthem for government official functions. Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said that the study would obtain the views of several people with authority on music such as composers like [...]

Jom Tukar dan Menang (Let’s Change and Win) – Yes the JPN has had to resort to hold lucky draws for the next 3 months to encourage two million Malaysians who have yet to renew their identity cards to do so. There will be three draws. The first is scheduled at the end of September, [...]
Blue Skies

Despite the dire predictions of the possible return of the haze this week, thankfully they have not come true. Yes the skies remain blue in the Klang Valley mainly due to the heavy rain we have been having the last few days. We have also been helping the Indonesians with cloud seeding to put out [...]
